  • Born: August 20, 1946, in Mysore, Karnataka, India
  • Murthy was born into a middle-class family. His father was a school teacher, and his mother was a homemaker.
  • He completed his Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Engineering, University of Mysore.
  • He later earned a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Computer Science from IIT Kanpur (Indian Institute of Technology).

Career and Infosys:

In 1981, Narayana Murthy co-founded Infosys with six other engineers. The company began as a small software consulting business with a modest initial investment of just $250

Murthy served as the CEO of Infosys from 1981 to 2002 and later as the Chairman. Under his leadership, Infosys grew into one of the largest IT services companies in the world.

Infosys went public in 1993, and its IPO was a landmark event in India's IT sector

Personal Life:

  • Narayana Murthy is married to Sudha Murthy, a prominent social worker, author, and philanthropist. Sudha Murthy is also the Chairperson of Infosys Foundation, which focuses on rural development, education, healthcare, and social empowerment.
